The main reason why finnish people do this trip, f.e. weekly, is to buy cheap alkohol and other stuff while cruisin over the Baltic Sea, or mainly the Gulf of Finland.
So why we shouldn't check this out? ;-)
So this is our ferry by Viking Line, great name or?
Some impressions from the ferry and Helsinki harbour:
This is the submarine laying at the island Suomenlinna. The island is an old Sea Fortress of the 18th century, and we will visit it hopefully next weekend together with Janet & Nico. I am looking forward to walk over this bastion:
The ride to Tallin takes around 2,5 hours. People here are buying in the ferry shops, having some drinks and food, dancing to nice finnish music, or they do some Viking Karaoke...really funny I must say...
Then, people have actually a stay of nearly 4 hours in Tallinn, to grab some food, visit the nice old center of Tallinn, kinda middle-age town and some older Finns just stayed at the ferry...because I guess they have been here like dozen times... ;-)
So here are some impressions of Tallinn.
The nice town hall:
We went to "Olde Hansa" a kinda Middle Ages restaurant in Tallinn, really nice...thanks Tytti for the hint...
A lot of candle light...romantic...
And I had pork leg and honey beer...yamyam...
Afterwards Steffi also found her heaven!!!
And we did a long walk through old city of Tallinn along the city walls:
So finally we took the way back with the ferry, so why not being like a Finn and enjoying the ferry shops... ;-)
Let's see how long this will rest... ;-)
See ya!!!
Talin ist eine tolle Stadt. Da war ich auch. Und mein finnischer Kumpel hat sich für die ganzen Suffis auf der Fähre geschämt. :D
