The Parliament of Finland

Hey friends,

we have our last week in Helsinki. There is not much left...we just have to face our last exams (maybe in our life ;-)

Last weekend we did something cultural with our friends, we visit the parliament of Finland. There is the possibility every Saturday to get a guided tour:

The Parliament has a squared shape and it looks a bit massiv, with all the collumns...

...but actually it is really beautiful inside. The building is designed in the classical design like most of the parts inside, but some furniture and decoration is kept in functionalism and art deco.

In the following picture you see the Session Hall
:

Our small group: André, Nelly, Steffi, Radhika and Emilie :-)

Over the Session Hall is a hugh, impressive dome shaped roof. You won´t recognize it from outside.
The cafeteria looks much different. It has a green roof, which reflects the lights and looks a bit like the ocean. We enjoyed our stay.

... Nelly and Emilie had fun!
This Hall is used for banquetts and audiences:

And the parliament has one amazing thing. Andrew and me became really excited. The parliament building has a parternoster, but sadly it is not in use anymore...

We really like the visit. It was a new site of Helsinki. Actually we are in exam-week and pack all our stuff (which is a lot), but please stay tuned: Our next posts will be about "Andrew´s re-socialization" and "10 things we will or won´t miss about Finland"...

PS: Thank you Radhika and Emilie for the pictures!
