we just arrived Monday morning in Helsinki with the ferry from our St. Petersburg weekend and on the evening I already went to the next concert...Dark Tranquillity, one of the top 3 Swedish Melodic Death Metal Bands, was in town...so I couldn't miss them...this was also the first concert for me here, without Steffi... :-(
She just don't like growls, but I will bring her to SOILWORK in December...hehe
The concert took place at Nosturi club. Nosturi is Finnish for "crane", because next to the club there is a crane...simple or not...it is located near the Helsinki New Shipyard in an old cargo terminal building.
The sign under Nosturi is "sisu" and it is an expression of about how Finns are:Freely translated it means strength of will, perseverance...or in other words...a finnish guy can easily resist the whole fuckin' damn cold winter and on top he is jumping into the ice-water... ;-)
The Nosturi club itself is really cool, alternative metal feeling perfect, but for the size I would say it is a bit smaller than the Columbia Club...actually Clubs and Concert halls like Columbia Hall, with a capacity of 1.000-2.000 people are missing here completely in Helsinki...you just can't find small halls, like 500-600 or mega events for 5.000, 10.000 and more...so development needed... ;-)
Anyway...I went to the concert together with Tomi (left), one of my Metal Finns in class, and his friend Toumo...and no...they are not twins...they just have the same bold head, and the same finnish beard... ;-)

The pre-bands have been okay...one melodic death metal band from Finland and a Swedish Band called 'Avatar'... in their introduction they give a big "FU" to James Cameron... ;-) ...there is just one way to enjoy Avatar in 3D that's here in front of the stage... ;-)
But anyway Dark Tranquillity started their set around 10pm...and it was really great...
They rocked like hell...
...played old stuff and new stuff...

...and the crowd loved it...

Mikael Stanne, singer of DT, was in a great mood and like always he was making jokes and smiling all the time...

Here is a short overview about her setlist...people which are familiar to their work...would have love that... ;-)
