Like we wrote in the last post, Janet & Nico visit us for this weekend to celebrate André's Birthday. So we planned an interesting adventure trip for Saturday.
Next to Helsinki, there is an old Sea Fortress, called Suomenlinna.

This bastion was build in the 18th century...you can find the complete history via Wikipedia.
So we started the trip with a ferry from the Helsinki harbour:
Enjoyed again the current beautiful weather in Helsinki, 12-15°C and sun, sun, sun...
Finally we arrived at the island...the ferry ride is around one beer length... ;-)
...this is a map of the different islands...you can walk on all of these and explore them by yourself...
Here are some more impressions:
What could be here?
Steffi enjoyed some walks...
More impressions:
The island also has some nice catacombs...
And you can have fun with some "BIG" weapons...
"What is inside here?"

We took the chance to get as much sun as we could...maybe it's the last sun... ;-)
And back with some more gun pictures:
"Hands up"
"Attack"
"Yipieh"
...You can find idyllic places all over the sea fortress...
...and you can get great view for other ships...
Afterwards we had some more walks through Helsinki city...
Today (and the complete next week) in Helsinki is a "big" Herring fish market...
So we had again some nice fish food...
...and more harbour time...
Afterwards we went to the Sibelius park...here is a nice monumet...
That's it so far...tomorrow is our first "school day"...nice greetz from:
STEFFI & ANDRÉ
