Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle is a castle-like estate near San Simeon in California, which was built in the 1920s by newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst.

Hearst began in 1919 to rebuild the family farm near San Simeon in a stately homeTogether with the architect Julia Morgan, Hearst created until 1947 a 37 million U.S. dollars expensive castle with 165 rooms, numerous outbuildingsan outdoor and an indoor swimming pool, 127 acres of gardens, a small theater and guest houses. The largest private zoo in the worldwith a variety of exotic animals such as zebras belonged to the estate.
